The Essex SEND Roadshows are back in the spring term and SENDIASS are offering workshops for parents/carers! 

Are you a parent/carer of a young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and want to know what support is available in your area? Come along to one of the Essex Local Offer Roadshows.  Meet representatives from across education, health and social care as well as local support groups. 

SOUTH - Tuesday 11 March 2025 - Holiday Inn, Waterfront Walk, Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, SS14 3DG

WEST - Thursday 13 March 2025  - The Harlow Hotel, Southern Way, Harlow, CM18 7BA

SEND IASS Workshops at the Local Offer Roadshows

Morning workshops with SENDIASS

 

There will be two workshops taking place 10.30am to 12pm.

Parents and carers can take part in the following workshops:

  • ADHD and co-existing conditions
  • Helping your SEND child manage their big emotions workshop

The ADHD workshop is being delivered by Steve Challen from ADHD+ Support. The session will cover:

  • practical advice for those who have ADHD and other neurodevelopmental and co-existing conditions
  • support tools for families and people who care for those with ADHD

The big emotions workshop is being delivered by Adult Community Learning (ACL). This workshop will support parents whose children can become overwhelmed and dysregulated.

Afternoon workshops with Early Years

There will be two workshops taking place 2pm to 3pm. 

Attendees can take part in the following workshops:

  • How adults can support their child’s development in language and communication
  • Supporting sensory development in a child’s early years

How adults can support their child’s development in language and communication is being delivered by Talk Listen and Cuddle (TLC).  The workshop will cover ways to develop communication through playful learning at home. 

The supporting sensory development in a child’s early years workshop is being delivered by Occupational Therapists (OTs). They will share a new sensory processing resource. The workshop will cover:

  • the importance of sensory processing within early development
  • examples of typical responses that can occur as a child grows
  • how significant sensory difficulties can impact everyday activities and play
  • strategies to support sensory regulation and participation
